Teachers:
Westchester Math Lab has assembled an excellent team of math instructors! Our team members have backgrounds ranging from teaching in elementary, middle and high schools to higher education institutions. All of our teachers have extensive teaching experience. Many of our instructors have advanced degrees in mathematics and some have math related publications. Most importantly, our teachers are dedicated to bringing the best quality of math instruction to our students.
Misha
Education: MS in Mathematics, Voronezh State University, Russia
Misha has been teaching math to students of all ages for more than 35 years. He started his career by teaching middle and high school students in Russia, and then went on to design and coordinate graduate math courses in Moscow Institute of Technology.
Since 1996, Misha has been teaching math in various colleges and universities of the Tri-State area. For the past 6 years, he has been an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Fordham University. Additionally, for the last 12 years, Misha taught elementary and middle school math at “School Plus” - one of the most respected math enrichment programs in NJ.
Misha is all about passion – passion for Mathematics and passion for teaching. He uses a unique approach to teaching math, focusing on mental calculations and analytical thinking. His lessons offer a fun and exciting experience to students of all ages and levels.
Rachel
Education: B.A. in History and Mathematics, Hunter College, New York
M.S.E.D. in Elementary Education,
Lehman College NY
Rachel has been an elementary school teacher in both the public and private schools. She has also been tutoring students grades 2nd through 10th in mathematics. Rachel will be continuing her education in pursuit of becoming a high school math teacher.
In her spare time, Rachel coaches a Little League baseball team. She also enjoys hiking and photography.
Polina
Education: MA in International Relations and Economics, Johns Hopkins University
BA in Comparative Literature, Binghamton
University, New York
Polina started her career as a Hedge Fund Research and Advisory Analyst. She then found her passion for teaching and is currently an instructor at EF International Academy in Tarrytown, NY. Polina is teaching High School Micro and Macro Economics and is experienced in preparing her students for International Baccalaureate exams. She has also been tutoring Math and English and teaching Russian Language and Literature.
Barbara
Education: M.A. in Childhood Education, Manhattanville College

Barbara has been a teacher in a private school and has worked with students ranging from Kindergarten through 4th grade. Math was always Barbara’s favorite subject growing up and she hopes to instill her passion for learning in her students. She always tries to find a way to make learning a fun experience.
Barbara loves to travel, take cooking classes, and is an avid reader.
Emily
Education: M.S. in Childhood Education, Iona College

Emily is currently a teacher in Rockland County, NY. She has taught Pre-k, 1st and 2nd grades, she also taught Earth Science and Biology to High School students. She has worked in classrooms from 1st grade to High School as a Substitute Teacher. Emily has tutored Elementary school students in Language Arts and Mathematics for a number of years. Her love of Mathematics began in Middle School and grew while achieving her Bachelor’s degree, which included a thorough study of Statistics and Calculus.
Emily loves animals, and enjoys travelling and reading in her spare time.
Lena
Education: M.S., B.S., Mathematics and Physics, The Zaporozhye State Pedagogical University, Ukraine
Lena has been teaching math and physics for more than 28 years.
Since 2002 she works full time at a private school in New Rochelle.
Lena finds her true calling as a math teacher, she loves teaching different levels of math and enjoys seeing students get excited when they "get" an elusive math concept. She finds reward in motivating her students and sparking their interest in math and physics.
Asya
Education: BA in Mathematics, Harvard University, MA
PhD in Statistics, Stanford University, CA
Asya worked as a statistician for 10 years before deciding to pursue a teaching career and become a high school math teacher. She is now in the final stages of obtaining her teaching certification.
Asya has taught mathematics and statistics while in graduate school, and has tutored students in high school math, statistics, and SAT preparation.
She is passionate about math and enjoys working with children of all ages. Asya is known for organizing math parties, games, and activities for her children and their friends.
Benoit
Education: BA, CTS Brussels, Belgium

Masters of Arts in Language Studies, University of Canterbury, England
Benoit is a Belgium native. He taught Math and Science at the International Christian Academy in Brussels, Belgium before moving to the US. In the past 15 years, he has taught Math and Science to the Middle school students at a private school in New Rochelle, New York where he is now a director of admissions. He is now pursuing a PhD in Language Studies at the University of Canterbury.
Benoit is a fun and engaging teacher who finds untraditional ways to keep his students focused and motivated.
